Skincare is easy— the mindset to attain great skin is hard.
Let’s face it—pun fully intended—glowing skin gets all the credit, but the glow that really matters? The one that comes from within.
As an esthetician, I’ve treated all skin types. I’ve cleared breakouts, restored barriers, and helped clients fall in love with their reflection again. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years, it’s this:
Skincare is easy. Healing? That’s the real work.
You can buy the serums. You can book the facials.
But nothing can substitute the mentality necessary to attain the skin of your dreams.
Our skin is intelligent; even as intelligent and adaptive as A.I. it reflects our habits, which reflects our perspectives. Tackling your routine like an option when you desire clear skin as a necessity is counterproductive and counterintuitive. Much like anything in life, results require consistency — something our generation struggles with because not everything guarantees immediate gratification— especially the skin.
Cells take days to turnover. Results of facials can sometimes take months. And the reality is the hardest part of all this isn’t the time it takes the skin to clear; rather, it’s our lack of patience snd understanding regarding its mechanisms and processes.
As psycho-socially affective as things like acne and hyperpigmentation are, how often are we being accountable for our negligence of our skin.
Falling asleep in makeup.
Skipping cleansing when you don’t feel like it.
knowing you need to exfoliate 3x a week but only do it 1x a month.
Where do we draw the line and begin to realize that we are sometimes the weapons formed against us? That this is not just applicable to skincare, but to other areas of our lives as well? Whether it’s working out in the gym consistently, changing your diet, breaking a habit or forming a new one;
How you do anything is how you do EVERYTHING.
How can we heal our skin when our minds haven’t changed?
Want better skin? Start by asking: Where do I need to be realer with myself?
That answer might change your whole glow.
