You Good? (The paradox of opposites)

Did you know: that the same chemical, hormonal and neurological pathways that get triggered in a woman while she is giving birth are the exact same hormonal and neurological pathways that get triggered when someone is dying? Down to the brain wave activity, the same process that brings forth death brings forth life.

The Fruit of the tree of Knowledge gave Man (Adam & Eve) awareness of duality: knowledge of that which creates, and that which destroys. That which builds, and that which knocks down. That which perpetuates life, and that which ends life. This knowledge, to the natural person, opposes each other & exists in two distinct realities: one that we call “good” and the other we call “evil”. To the mystic, however, they are simply two hands that wash each other.

The union of the two in our awareness begins to build the bridge to understanding Life. Our tendency to alienate the two from one another as humans is our own self-imposed mental barrier that blocks us from entering into God’s presence. The Taoists peered ever so slightly beyond this veil when they conceptualized Yin-Yang within ancient eastern philosophy. Marrying two forces we typically perceive as separate is a tall order in a world where our mortality says otherwise. “Death antagonizes life” generally sums up your perception — perceiving death as a consequence of Life rather than a partner to it.

Allow me to challenge your nuanced belief by saying that Life and Death, “good and evil” are not contrary to each other, but instead are the same doorway crossed in different directions. What does this knowledge do for us then? May it challenge our duality-based way of thinking, which traps us in mind and Spirit, and more importantly, challenge our choice.

Our choice to do things that bring us closer to revelation or away from revelation won’t add or take anything away from the breath and sustenance of all Life (God). What it will do however is affect us when the day comes where we lay to rest our bodies. The earth would still go on spinning in perfect proportion from the sun and moon and life will still beat on in the cosmos in its vast fullness. In fact, the earth would heal without us. What science tries to quantify and dissect with its -isms and “laws” reflects our mortal inability to expand our 3D minds to the dimensional perception necessary to grasp the phenomena of existence (God). We don’t even have to go deeper— let me simply ask you: do you tell yourself to wake up in the morning?

You don’t have to believe in God to be grateful, but being grateful will make you start believing in God. Gratitude weaves together a tapestry of the Good and Evil in our lives for us humans who can’t comprehend the will of existence aka GOD. It exposes to our psyche our very own experiences and every instance we could have been destroyed mentally and emotionally, but GOD! literally came through in whatever capacity that looked like for you (and I!) Doesn’t the death of a loved one expose the preciousness of Life and make you cherish those around you more? Doesn’t the birth of a child bring fear to the mind of a mother and all loved ones who will one day have to say goodbye?

“small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” Matthew 7:13-14

I invite you to ponder the goodness that leads to goodness; gratitude leads us to the way of life, and that is a guarantee for anyone eager and willing to seek it or refine their knowing of it.
